..a Clark and Lana article..

As you all know, I am not an avid fan of the Lana and Clark tandem. But watching recaps of Smallville seasons 3 & 4 made me think of posting an entry about these two lovebirds. Their on & off issue... and important morals that we all need to learn.

Now I understand why Clark and Lana just can't be together. Even if they both love each other very much, there will always be a side of them that shatters the relationship itself. See, if Lana is Clark's one great love, then why not spill the big secret? I guess the answer to that would be very complicated for her to handle. Too complex that even her faith already lost to what she always believed in... that she'll always wait for Clark with means of sacrificing everything else, even her own life.

But do you know what makes them both still attached? It's because no matter what happens in the story, their mixed emotions will always come rambling back and forth with their hearts and minds out. They try to balance both sides so they won't commit the same mistakes they did in the past. But the cycle never stops. And unintentionally, they still end up hurting each other.

Whenever one tries to reconcile, the other pushes him/her away.

Ironically speaking, struggling yourself through self-denial can actually concede you to self-sacrifice.

But you know... In real life experiences, I think this is one move we will all regret. Sure you believe that pushing the one you love away will dissipate the pain away. But what about the aftermath? Had not it's unstoppable effect took place when for a minute, you'll find yourself alone... staring point-blank with flashing memories of you and that person; Shooting you inside non-stop without even noticing that half of your time has already been wasted. Then as you gain consciousness, you deny the fact that you don't want that memory to be remembered anymore. So you spend another pack of hours, trying to convince yourself that you're already okay when you're really not. Self-denial... on the loose!

Somehow I also believe that for every corresponding action lies a reason that wishes no one to be able to seek. And that purpose is only for the doer himself.

Knowing that their feelings for each other are strongly mutual, Clark wouldn't dare to make any move that'll take them into complex situations again. So he pushes her away, and tries to convince her that friendship is more than enough for their relationship to go on.

No matter how much you crave for something, the only ones you're gonna get are the ones meant for you. I guess when it's not... you'd just have to let it go. Cuz no matter what you do, elements will always try everything to keep them away from you. Even your loved ones. I know it's not that damn easy, believe me. But humanely stubborn as we are, we'll still grab that opportunity and risk soo many chances of seeking pain.

And as for Clark 'Kal-El' Kent, I firmly believe that he truly loved Lana Lang. But knowing that he wasn't destined to be with her, he continued his journey to train himself to keep the world safe in his hands.

One great Self-sacrifice, and One great reason for me to patronize him even more.
